What to check

  • This is plain-text extraction, not a full browser rendering.
  • Link destinations are not retained in the MVP.

How this cleaner works

The converter removes comments, complete script, style, and template blocks, then replaces common block-level closing tags with readable paragraph breaks. Remaining tags are removed and common named or numeric HTML entities are decoded. The markup is treated as text and is never executed.

This produces a readable plain-text starting point for articles, email drafts, CMS exports, or snippets copied from source view. It is not a full browser rendering engine, so complex CSS-generated content, malformed markup, and link destinations need manual review.

Useful for

  • CMS and email HTML snippets
  • Article bodies copied from source
  • Removing tags before pasting into plain-text systems

Common questions

Are scripts executed?

No. Script, style, and template blocks are discarded as text before the remaining tags are removed.

Are HTML entities decoded?

Yes. Common named entities and valid decimal or hexadecimal numeric entities are converted to their characters.

Are links preserved?

The visible link text remains, but the href destination is not included in this MVP.
